What do you think about illegal immigration?

I know people have worn this subject out but its a tough one for me. As an American I don't agree with illegal immigration. I feel like the US has enough problems and we don't need to take on other people's problems. But as a Mexican who's father was an illegal immigrant its a personal issue. I know people who are from El Salvador and Columbia and they said well what if you lived in a war ton country you would want to come to the US too you don't understand. They're right I don't understand I feel for them but at the same time as an American I feel like immigration isn't in my best interest. I'm torn between being an American and sympathizing with my race.
