Can you still become a police officer if you have a criminal record?

I really want to be a police officer but I got into some legal trouble when I was younger (namely, ault and battery, stalking, and ual ault), but I paid my debt to society, and they put me into a mental hospital, and I’ve gone to therapy and I even pay my taxes now. My official dream is to be a police officer man and get to carry a gun and stop the bad guys in the dark trench coats who stab in this giant society bubble, do you think that I can do that even if I haves a criminal record?
