What causes really bad heartburn?

I suffer very bad heartburn every now an again, I cant pinpoint any food doing it and if any thing its food you wudn't think that causes it, also bending ova could start it an lying down, also now an again really bad that although i havn,t suffered one, you'd think, i was having a heart attack
